Children told to go wild and take a great photo

YOUNGSTERS with an interest in photography or wildlife are being urged to enter a photograph competition.

Called Wild in Worcester, the event, which was launched this week, is being run by the city council's Ranger team in the run up to April's Woodland Fun Day in Tolladine Woods.

Richard Clarke, from the Ranger team, said: "As its title suggests, we're looking for photographs of wildlife in Worcester.

"That can mean wild plants, animals, birds, landscapes or a combination of them all, and if the picture was taken on a site managed by the Rangers or in one of the city's parks, that'd be a bonus."

He added that judges would also be looking for images that best show the co-existence of nature and the built environment in the city.

There are two categories - under 16s and 16s and over - with cash for the winners.

Mr Clarke added: The competition is a way to encourage more people into local nature reserves and green open spaces where they might not normally venture."
