THE late summer sun ensured there were plenty of smiles in Pershore as thousands travelled to the town's jazz festival over the weekend.
The fourth annual event kicked off on Thursday with a performance by Pasadena Roof Orchestra at the community arts centre, Number 8.
On Saturday a large crowd gathered in Chapman Court, off the High Street, to see the Dutch Lewis Broad Band.
Among the spectators was Roy Partridge, of Elbury Park Road, in Tolladine, Worcester.
The 78-year-old said: "My wife and daughter went off to do some shopping and I said I would stay and watch the band.
"It really gets your feet tapping. People are enjoying themselves. It's good to see."
Also there were Don and Eve Burns from Morecambe, in Lancashire, who were in Pershore visiting friends.
Mrs Burns said: "It's our first time to Pershore and our first time to the festival and we are very impressed."
She added that her hometown has nothing like this festival.
"They don't do jazz up in Morecambe."
During the four days there were 15 events that took place at a number of venues around the town.
Peter Farrall, secretary of the committee that organised the festival, said around 2,500 people attended the events.
He said: "We don't want the festival to get too large. We want small but high quality.
"That is the mark of the Pershore Jazz Festival. It's not too big but we have top quality bands."
He added that planning for next year's festival would start soon.
