YOUNGSTERS leaving home are being offered information packs to ensure they land on their feet when moving out.
Worcestershire County Council's trading standards service has compiled the packs, called Knowledge, containing information on everything from consumer rights to buying gas and electricity. It also includes information on renting, homeworking, debt and credit management and buying a car - all presented in a format that can be retained for future use. Ally Cornelius, advice and education manager, said: "These packs have been developed to try to prevent young people from falling foul of problems when they move away from home. Young people become instant targets for businesses as soon as they move into a property, and often through lack of understanding they can find themselves committing to things that will later cause them grief.
"We don't want to preach. What we want to do is give young people the tools to find the answers to their questions easily and simply."
Anyone wanting a copy of the pack should either contact the advice and education team on 01905 765373 or e-mail their address to advicetss@ worcestershire. gov.uk
