Wychavon gets in the top three

WYCHAVON District Cou-ncil has been recognised for its outstanding performance, being ranked third out of 238 district authorities in the league tables.

Each year, authorities throughout England are required to submit performance results on a range of issues, from planning to housing.

Among the list of achievements is that it currently provides its services at the lowest council tax rate.

Wychavon's executive board member for resources, Councillor Clive Holt, said: "We are providing good quality services at a good value to our residents. High performance does not necessarily mean high costs."

Alan Smith, Wychavon's performance officer, said: "Each year we set ourselves challenging targets and each quarter we monitor our progress.

"Our current position shows we are largely on track to achieve our targets and deliver what we said we would."
