Singers flex vocal cords for a cause

From the archive, first published Monday 26th Sep 2005.

SINGERS have been urged to unite to raise funds for adults suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Pershore Abbey will be the venue for Voices for Hospices, part of an international campaign to raise funds for the cause.

The money raised will go towards Worcester's St Richard's Hospice.

Members of choirs have been invited to rehearse in the Abbey during the afternoon of Saturday October 1, for an evening performance of Creation by Haydn at 7.30pm.

St Richard's is based in Rose Hill and offers free services including a day hospice, home care team, family therapy and counselling service, 24-hour on-call advice line and the Snowdrop Group for young women living with cancer.

Building work has recently started on the new site in Wildwood Way, near County Hall, Worcester, and campaigners are working to raise the remaining £400,000 needed to complete the Building Beds Together campaign.

Entry to the concert will be free, but there is a suggested minimum donation of £5.
