A RESTAURANT owner was left scratching his

head when he received a quarterly electricity bill for £7,000.

Ataur Rahman, the owner of Sylhet Balti Tandoori in Lowesmoor, Worcester, can usually expect to pay about £350 every three months, and was shocked to receive the demand from Worcester-based supplier npower for 20 times that.

He said: "I kept going back to check it. In fact, I didn't query it for a couple of days because I thought I was reading it wrong.

"I know we use a lot of electricity but not that much."

Npower investigated after being contacted by the Worcester News and have sent a correct bill for closer to the amount Mr Rahman usually pays.

A spokeswoman said: "It was clearly a billing error and as well as sending Mr Rahman his proper bill, we are going to credit him £50 for any inconvenience caused."
