Webbs is cream of the crop

GREEN-fingered staff at Webbs of Wychbold are celebrating continued success after being officially named the best garden centre in the Midlands.

The family-owned firm near Droitwich also beat about 200 other garden retailers to retain its position among the top 15 garden centres in the UK.

The awards have just been announced after a rigorous inspection by judges from the Garden Centre Association, the organisation representing the best garden retailers in Britain.

As well as the Garden Centre of Excellence and Best Garden Centre honours, Webbs won 10 merit awards for outstanding performance by staff and in a wide range of categories, including houseplants, landscapes and garden buildings.

Managing director Ed Webb was thrilled with the accolades.

He said: "All the staff are delighted to win such prestigious awards. We have won many prizes over the years and everyone at Webbs works extremely hard to ensure we remain among the top garden centres in the whole of the UK and the best in the Midlands."

"The awards back up what our customers already know about our high standards and the skill and dedication of our staff. That's why they come back time and again and bought 500,000 plants at Webbs last year alone."

Webbs has won more than 20 top awards in the last 10 years, ensuring it is consistently one of the top garden centres in the country.

The family business includes the garden centre and beautiful landscaped gardens which are open free to the public.

Work has just started on a £5m expansion project that will add an extra 62,000 sq ft of new covered retail space - trebling the existing area and making Webbs one of the largest independent centres in the UK. With 250 staff it is also a major employer locally.
