Season opens

A talk on celebrated Gloucestershire musician Herbert Howells kicks off the new season for the Elgar Society tomorrow (Saturday).

The talk, by musician and author Paul Spicer, is at the Elgar Birthplace Museum, Lower Broadheath, at 2.30pm.

Well-known for composing pieces for the Three Choirs Festival, Herbert Howells (1892-1983) penned the masterpiece Hymnus Paradis in 1950.
