Georgia reflects on Dunkirk as paintings are put on show

A FORMER Kidderminster High School pupil who moved from Bewdley to Falmouth is set to hold her first art exhibition outside of her new home county.

Fifty-one-year-old Georgia Hurst ran her own clothes shop, Georgina Originale, in Bewdley, until she moved to Falmouth 13 years ago and became a professional artist two years ago.

She studied art A-level at Kidderminster High School for Girls until 1977.

Her latest exhibition, On Reflection 2004, is being displayed at The Oval Gallery in Cheltenham throughout August and features a tribute to the little ships of Dunkirk called Sea of Poppies.

Sea of Poppies will be unveiled at a private viewing of the exhibition on August 1 by a Rod Stewart tribute act who will sing the hit song Sailing.

Miss Hurst is due to bring the painting, which will be auctioned off next year to generate funds for the restoration of Dunkirk Little Ship, Rania, to Stourport Yacht Club on Remembrance Day in November.
