Rock `n' roll years revived

From the archive, first published Thursday 29th Jul 2004.

THE best musical acts the world has seen over the past 50 years are being brought to life next month at the Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury.

The latest production, Forever in Blue Jeans features classic tracks from legendary performers like Elvis, the Beatles, Dusty Springfield and the Carpenters.

The audience will also be entertained with the more contemporary offerings of singers like Shania Twain and The Mavericks.

TV and radio recording artists Carole Gordon and Bob Newman lead the company.

The duo has toured with Tammy Wynette and has been voted top British duo by the British Country Music Association for three consecutive years.

They were also invited to represent their country in Nashville, Tennessee.

Talented vocalist and choreographer Sarah Day returns to the company following an extensive UK tour with Paul Nicholas in Fiddler on the Roof. The show's impressive dance routines are all courtesy of Sarah's imaginative style.

Singer/songwriter Oliver Marsh is another member of the fold, who recently toured as a principle cast member in the highly successful Roy Orbison Story.

He has proved time and again to be an enthusiastic member of the company and a massive hit with the crowd.

Musical director Martyn Cooper leads the four-piece band, which includes Wayne Golden on lead guitar and banjo and Chris Burgess on drums and percussion.

Forever in Blue Jeans will be on at the Roses, Tewkesbury on Saturday, August 14 at 7.30pm.
