Three-car smash

THREE cars were involved in a collision and damaged road signs on the Salford Priors roundabout on the A46. A Vauxhall Cavalier, Citroen Saxo and Ford Maverick was involved in a collision at 4.30pm on Monday, December 22 damaging road signs on the roundabout. PARISH COUNCIL: Road repairs, footpaths and hedgecutting: Having arranged payment of £200 to the parish council, WCC has handed over responsibility. WCC is able to provide posts and gates etc. free of charge. The Parish Council will arrange and pay for installation. Two areas in the village have been highlighted for action. The chairman was concerned that when the road is closed, the need for action by WCC will not be perceived as highly as it should. The clerk had spoken to WCC about the hedges on the bridges. WICK WIVES: It was a seasonably cold and frosty night when 25 members and husbands, friends etc, set out on December 15 to sing carols in the village. The punch and associated nibbles provided in the Storeys' garage were probably an essential starter on such a cold evening. There was a pit stop, near the Manor, provided by David Sutton, where more essential supplies were taken. Finally there was more hot punch and mince pies at Anne and Colin Harvey's when the singing finished. The evening raised £250 for charity, £30 more than last year.   more...
