Evesham-based band Volta are celebrating reaching a wider audience after managing to get themselves included on a well-known monthly compilation of new bands.
Two of the band's tracks, Title Wave and Egress, takenfrom their EP Moving On Is A Simple Thing, will be spinning on CD players around the country after being snapped up by record label C1 for its regular EP release.
Volta consist of Jen and Bel on vocals, Liz on guitar and vocals, Dave on guitar, Ven on bass and Luke on drums.
C1 belongs to changesone, a record shop near Newcastle-on-Tyne which is run by Ian Tunstall.
Fate struck a couple of years ago when Dave, Volta's guitarist, met Ian at an Antiproduct gig in London.
"I kept in touch with him for a few years because I bought CDs from his shop. He knew I was in a band and said that if I sent him some material, he would give it a listen.
"The two songs he chose for the compilation are more electronic songs, which is weird because he's a real
rock 'n' roll man."
Anyone who wants the album can get hold of it from www.changesone.co.uk
Volta are also recording a new CD at the studio in their rehearsal room at The Lenches.
"The new tunes are turning out very well and will have a presentable quality as they are being recorded with simple software," says Dave.
"Believe you me they are very good.
"At the same time, we are helping out Alan Robinson, who owns and runs the rooms. We are bringing his huge catalogue of songs to life.
"He plays them to me, Luke and Ven, then we all arrange the songs and just go for it. We call ourselves Smokey and the Quireboys. So far it is turning out well."
Looks like Evesham is where it's at these days.
