Pop goes the century at inn

From the archive, first published Thursday 27th Jun 2002.

THERE'S a rare treat in store for music lovers of all ages when The Bakelite Boys bring their widely-acclaimed "Pop Goes the Century," a celebration of musical landmarks of the last 100 years, to the Bulls Head Inn, Inkberrow, from Thursday, July 11 to Sunday, July 14.

Playing 100 songs form 100 years in 100 minutes, The Bakelite Boys run the gamut of popular music using only unamplified instruments and the three versatile voices of Dave Sealey, Andrew Frank and George Hinchcliffe.

The production is part of a varied programme of theatrical and musical events being hosted at the Bulls Head and brought together by Mouthpiece Theatre Company.

"Pop Goes the Century" is fast, fun and zany.

Likened to a musical Reduced Shakespeare Company, the production covers many great songs and comes at them at unexpected angles as it charts the cultural ebbs and flows of the century.

Tickets Thursday to Saturday cost £8 and on Sunday, inclusive of a three-course dinner, £15, from the box office on 01386 792233 or in person from the Bulls Head.
